Looking to find some places to grab some fantastic grub in Puerto Vallarta? Try these top places to eat in the Zona Romantica to stuff your tummy’s with some amazing eats!
For the past week, I’ve been spending my time sprawled out by the pool or relaxing on the beach by the ocean, soaking up the strong sun rays and sipping on a few too many margaritas!
I’ve eaten my weight in vegan tacos, fajitas, burritos, and, I swear, my body is about 50% guacamole. I’m a bit worried that Puerto Vallarta is going to run out of avocados by the time I’m finished here…
So, whether you’re backpacking through Mexico or visiting Puerto Vallarta on a relaxing getaway, make sure to check out these delicious places to grab a bite to eat.
Here’s my list of top places to eat in the Zona Romantica, Puerto Vallarta (with vegan options!)
Tacos Revolución
With a laid-back atmosphere and fabulous vegan tacos, this place definitely made the list of my top places to eat in the Zona Romantica!
Their mushroom tacos are off the charts and with a full selection of toppings, like cabbage, cilantro, spicy salsa, and fresh made guacamole, it only gets better.
Tacos Revolución also carries a variety of vegetarian/vegan tacos. They have cheese and refried beans, hibiscus and cheese, and soy-meat chorizo.
Although, if you’re looking for a strict vegan meal, all I can recommend is the mushroom taco, as I’m unsure if there are animal products in the others!
Also, make sure to do yourself a favor and order the guacamole and chips! So good.
Café San Angel
This place is serving up fantastic Mexican food, including some awesome portobello mushroom fajitas. Fresh from the kitchen, this flavorful dish comes out steaming and sizzling from the back.
Packed with perfectly cooked mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and accompanied by warm tortillas and tasty toppings, it was – no doubt – one of the best dishes I ate in the Zona Romantica in Puerto Vallarta!
I’d happily sip on one of their tasty mojitos and munch on their fresh fajitas any day.
Salud Super Food
Fresh made meals, a chill atmosphere, and fantastic, feel-good food? Can’t get better than that.
Salud Super Food offers an array of healthy dishes including rice and quinoa bowls, super smoothies, burgers, soups, and more. And most can be made vegan! On the menu, they have a little VG next to the dish, indicating if it can be made vegan.
Planeta Vegetariano
An entire place dedicated to vegetarian and vegan food… and it’s a full-on buffet?! Life cannot get any better at Planeta Vegetariano.
With soy meat soaking in a flavorful sauce, cactus sauteed in a spicy mix, feel-good green juice for some energy, flavor-packed Mexican rice, fantastic frijoles (beans), and more, I could spend almost everyday eating at Planeto Vegetariano.
Stuffing my face with their endless array of mouth-watering vegan food.
Did I mention most of the items they provide in the buffet are vegan? *cue the enthusiastic cheering!*
Any of the wonderful ladies making the food and managing the place are super helpful in pointing out which options are vegan. And at a price of only $4 for the morning buffet and $6 for the lunch/dinner buffet, you couldn’t receive a better value!
This place is no doubt one of the top places to eat in the Zona Romantica in Puerto Vallarta.
Cuates y Cuetes
Offering a fantastic selection of tasty margaritas – either on the rocks or blended – and a yummy array of Mexican eats, including a few that could be made vegetarian and vegan, it’s easy to spend hours in this fun restaurant!
Their vegetarian fajitas – which can be made without the cheese, just ask the server to make it vegan – are delicious.
And even better? It’s located right on the beach! My family and I literally spent hours here.
Arriving before sunset – read: during happy hour! – at around 4:30 pm and staying until 8:30.
Safe to say, Cuates y Cuetes were close to running out of margarita mix and tequila! I mean, with 2-for-1 margaritas and daiquiris, it’s easy to lose track of time.
Places to Get a Great Drink in the Zona Romantica, PVR
Margarita Grill
Margs all day everyday in Mexico, am I right or am I right? The Margarita Grill has amazing margaritas, all coming in a variety of flavors like strawberry, lime, coconut, cucumber, and more.
I ordered the passionfruit one and it was fantastic! Just the right amount of tequila – not too strong and not too weak! I was already buzzing once it was gone. *cue the thumbs up*
The Margarita Grill also makes fresh guacamole – right at your table!
They bring out a little cart topped with avocado, red onions, tomatoes, and cilantro. The server then mashes up the avocado halves and mixes in the fresh toppings.
It’s amazing. Prepackaged guac is no comparison to fresh made!
Blondies
With their fun atmosphere and yummy – boozy – slushies, Blondies is a great place to spend a night (or a few!).
This place is always popping, even mid-day! As it’s right on the corner of a popular walking street and super easy to just grab a few slushies on your way by.
Grocery Store (Notable Mention)
Mini Super on Amapas Street
No joke, this place has some of the best guac I’ve eaten! And they make it fresh every-damn-day.
It’s sooo good!
Super easy to just grab whilst walking by and a great snack for the beach or if you’re going on a boat trip. They also make fresh salsa, fresh cooked seafood, sandwiches, smoothies, and more!
They also have a wide variety of beer and a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables!
So, there you have it! My top places to eat in the Zona Romantica in Puerto Vallarta – all having either fantastic vegan options or delicious drinks!
