Have you ever thought about going on a safari? If sitting in the back of an open-air jeep watching extraordinary animals in the wild — like elephants, water buffalo, and exotic birds (hello, peacocks!) — sounds like a crazy awesome experience, then you’ll love this post. Going on a safari has always been high up on my bucket list. Heck, around 7 or 8 years ago — waaay before my backpacking days commenced — I even wrote it down on my “Ultimate Life Goal List.”
(Which, by the way, only had six items on it… so yeah. Safari was, like, a must-do experience for teenager Sophie.)
I mean, come on, who wouldn’t love to sit in the back of an open-air jeep and admire wild animals from afar?
Thus, when the opportunity to head out on a jeep safari adventure in Udawalawe National Park popped up, I couldn’t say no.
Finally, finally, I was going to check this “Life Goal” off my list! It’s safe to say there wasn’t enough whooping and hollering I could do to adequately express my excitement.
After all was said and done (and after I finally got the dust out of my ridiculously-knotted hair), the jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park exceeded my expectations and thoroughly blew my’ mind.
This incredible adventure featured everything from wild elephants and water buffalo to slinking jackalopes and more.
Sounds like a dream, amirite?
